Dateline July 18,2009 Is it good news for the country that more and more people are loosing confidence in the democrats? No, it’s too little to late. Today’s Rasmussen Presidential tracking poll shows that only 28% Strongly Approve of how the President is performing. 36% Strongly Disapprove. Eight out of ten voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on the economy. The gap seems to be narrowing in favor of the Republicans on healthcare. But will Obamacare be defeated before the numbers are high enough to stop it? Not completely. We are sure to see some compromise that will eventually lead to universal healthcare. This movement is not new. The President is loosing support, but he still seems to be able to attract supporters such as the AMA, which has traditionally opposed government sponsored healthcare. As far back as the FDR depression of the 30’s, when doctors attempted to form a healthcare organization the AMA forbad them from belonging. Later the AMA opposed Truman’s plan warning that Truman was trying to impose socialized medicine on a free society. When JFK proposed his healthcare plan in 1962 the AMA spent a reported $50 million to defeat it, stating that doctors would be subjected to bureaucratic incompetence, which would degrade the quality of medical care in America. Although the AMA was strongly opposed to Medicare, President Lyndon Johnson with help from liberal Republicans was able to create a government plan. While many doctors have left the AMA, it still has influence. President Obama’s success in obtaining the approval of the AMA, given its years of opposition to socialized medicine, may well be the tipping point for success. Obama’s years of experience as a community organizer qualify him for the job of organizing support for insane programs. His speeches make the failed ideas of the past appear new, brilliant, and most importantly a great benefit to a majority of Americans. He has amassed a community organization on a national level that consists of 39 sector cheerleaders he calls “Czars”. He has cajoled and culled special interest groups in a way that is second to none, with one possible historical exception. FDR was elected to a second term by 99% of the electoral vote during a devastating economic disaster of his making. FDR used taxpayer debt to buy support for his failing programs, and for his reelection. Mr. Obama intends to do the same. The experience of FDR has apparently not escaped the recognition of the current occupant of the White House. Only this time, BHO has outspent, outspeached, and outmaneuvered his adversaries, more than FDR ever could. Hindsight being what it is, BHO is able to avoid the few mistakes made by FDR, and has polished off the rough edges. In addition BHO is armed with the bible of Saul Alinsky, and this President has the will succeed. It does not appear that enough Republicans in Congress have the will to win. Saul Alinsky is ridiculed by conservatives for what he meant to accomplish, but he had a sound understanding of human nature. It is unlikely we will see very many Republicans standing up in front of a microphone and television cameras like we saw Democrats during the Bush administration. There is a double standard in the media and what the Democrats can do with impunity, could result in political suicide if done by a Republican. President Obama as a national organizer is able to act with impunity because every move he directs is reported by the media as having the precision of the Bolshevik Ballet in its heyday. Only a relatively few altruistic Republicans in Congress are willing to stand in front of a firing squad of liberal reporters who are aiming at putting them out of office. Rick Santorum and Norm Colman are two of the casualties of this war of attrition. Governor Palin and Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann are examples of conservatives who face a barrage of personal attacks by the media, liberal pundits, and comedians on television. Pseudointellectuals who lack understanding simply refer to these female champions of conservative values as “crazies”. Ultimately issues of the day are being defined by and controlled by a liberal media at the behest of the Obama National Community Organization. If his organization succeeds in creating an unsustainable national debt, socialized medicine, and taking de facto ownership of private industry, it would be an assault on freedom and a total abandonment of what little is left of a free market economy. |
