Writer Jeffrey Kuhner of the Washington Post is calling for President Obama’s impeachment. Mr. Obama is a democrat who defeated the not so conservative Republican challenger John McCain in the last presidential election.

Kuhner wrote, “He is slowly – piece by painful piece – erecting a socialist dictatorship.” I would not go so far as to say that the President is becoming a dictator, but he certainly is acting contrary to public opinion. It would be instructive to look back at the 32nd president of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who served four terms between 1933 and 1935. We see how effective his stimulus packages were in buying votes that kept him and most of Congress in office. Those who went along with FDR’s New Deal received boat loads of borrowed money to lavish upon their constituency.

We are already seeing the FDR plan being put into action by Mr. Obama. The republican governor of Arizona, and even Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana is being ignored despite the damage done to the economy of his state and to the environment. If you ask any progressive today they will tell you that FDR was one of our greatest presidents and his stimulus packages brought the country out of the depression. Despite 22% unemployment, he was reelected with almost 99 percent of the nation’s electoral votes, the largest percentage of any U.S. president in history.

According to many political economists FDR’s stimulus programs did nothing to create private employment which by 1934 was still 22%. Like Mr. Obama, FDR created and manipulated federal jobs to strengthen his political support. FDR’s motto expressed by James Farley, chairmen of the Democratic National Committee was that the “party in power should reward its own”.

It should be abundantly clear by now that only those who are close to the the president can expect help from the Obama administration.  Farley believed that stimulus packages are good for “building the party machine for the next election.” I submit that Mr. Obama believes the same.

For those who expect Mr. Obama to be a one term president perhaps they should consider how much patronage a trillion dollars can buy. Ignorance of history will get us as lost as an Alzheimer patient. Mr. Obama may not be a dictator, but everyone is about to suffer economic penalties and the loss of their liberties because of his socialist policies.
