I’m still wondering about the advice I got 6 months ago from a friend. Apparently my prognostication of the severity of the coming economic collapse was not appreciated. In fact, I was told; if more of us were up-beat about the economy then people would not be afraid to spend their money, and everything would be fine. In the back of my mind I was thinking, “What money?” It’s not a complicated logical formula: ( No jobs in industry) + (No money to spend) = (economic collapse). Apparently this simple math problem is too difficult for some to understand both at home and in Washington D.C. The last time that the Democrats tried pumping up the economy with stimulus was in the 1930's. That was when Democrat President Franklin Delano Roosevelt [FDR] was in office. People were starving and living in cardboard boxes. The "New Deal" government program to provide electric power was called the Tennessee Valley Authority [TVA] and it put private utility companies like "Commonwealth and Southern" out of business. So much for free enterprise being protected by our government officials. President Bush and Obama's stimulus is not working.
