Dateline: December 17, 2009: When President Obama was elected to office those who were looking for positive change were a bit upset with me for saying that this looked like, as Yogi would  say “déjà vu 1929 all over again”.  I was told that if everyone would just start spending and not be so concerned about the economy everything would turn out fine. By now people must be getting tired of singing Kum Bah Yah because it doesn’t seem to be helping. This week the jobless report was once again dismal.

Government admits that 5,000 were added to the 5.19 million out-of-work for the week ending Dec. 5. This doesn’t include the ones who ran out of  State benefits and are on extended benefits paid for by the Feds.

I haven’t looked at the domestic production figures in the past two weeks, but I would be surprised if production increased. If the demand is thin then it would be foolhardy to increase production. The required response to lower demand is to lower production. By now the warehouses of goods have been exhausted and those 50% off sales will eventually end.

At least that is the way I see it. But the present situation could all be a mirage created by a cabal of money changers who want to end up with all the US Dollars. I’m not making that call, but either way; it doesn’t look good for the rest of us.
