This is what a friend of mine had to say about "Intellectuals and Society" I think it is one of the best books I have ever read I'm and really glad you recommended it to me. Sowell offered some great real world examples of how the intelligentsia selectively pick their facts to fit their vision. Particularly, how they avoid investigating or even entertaining data that conflicts with their vision, shade and slant information to conform to their vision and then use their verbal virtuosity to influence society. The impact they have on the masses and especially the youth is clearly influencing much of our politics today. I think Sowell's point that the intelligentsia are not held accountable for the consequences of their decisions and results is a big part of the problem. |
